International Peace Day

International Peace Day

International peace day

Thursday, September 21st marks International Peace Day.

With so much going on in the world today, we at DESUAR felt it was very important to take a moment to honor this important day.

First observed on Tuesday, September 21st in 1982 the holiday is dedicated to world peace – specifically the absence of war and violence. Each year, there is a different theme declared to promote this important movement.
2017 marks Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All
This theme is based on the TOGETHER global campaign that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone forced to flee their homes in search of a better life.
Many organizations throughout the world are participating to spread peace this holiday including The Peace Crane Project
This year, The Peace Crane Project is hosting a special project where they invite school and community groups, individuals and families, all around the world to fold a peace crane or dove, and fill its wings with words and pictures of peace. They will then trade it with another child somewhere in the world.
Their goal is to collect 1,000 cranes, created by children in every corner of the planet. They’ll then display them in various venues around the world. To find out where the cranes will be displayed be sure to check back periodically at
What are you doing to commemorate this important day?
Whether you’re creating a peace garden, engaging in meditation or stopping by our spa to relax your body and mind, we encourage you to take a few moments of silence to wrap yourself with peace, love and serenity, not just on Sept. 21st but everyday.
Happy International Peace Day from DESUAR Spa.
